Intierra supports Extractive industry Transparency Initiative (EITI)
26 Nov 2010
Intierra is pleased to announce its support of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) and the introduction of a new mapping layer to IntierraLive that shows which countries are compliant with this initiative.
The EITI is a coalition of governments, companies, civil society groups, investors and international organisations whose objective is to set a global standard for transparency in oil, gas and mining. Countries wishing to become a Candidate and work towards Compliance must undertake a range of activities to strengthen resource revenue transparency as documented in agreed country workplans. Once a country is Compliant, the country must undergo validation at least every 5 years.
Our IntierraLive service makes mineral resource intelligence available to companies for making decisions on investing in exploration and mining which leads to mineral resource discoveries. It is important to us that there is transparency in the management of the revenues that result and that mining policies are developed which contribute to poverty reduction, sustainable community development and benefits for the citizens of the country in which exploration and mining is taking place.
