Background / Geology Notes
Vanadium and titanium are hosted by a titanomagnetite which occurs as a tabular body approximately 20 to 30 metres thickness and approximately 16 kilometres strike length within the Archaean Sherlock layered intrusion. Oxidation to titano-heamatite is typically restricted to 15 metres vertical depth. The mineralised horizon dips at between 20 to 40 degrees towards the north, and is dislocated by faults which can be clearly seen in aeromagnetic images,
